Chile stands out in London as an exporter with 30,000 tons of berries in 2007/2008
In 2007-2008, Chile exported 30,000 tons of blueberries worldwide. The main destination markets are US-Canada, which buys 78% of Chilean blueberries.
Chile is leading the development of the blueberry industry in the Southern Hemisphere and is located at 5 th place as a world producer. This leadership was highlighted during the World Congress of Berries in London (Global Berry Congress) made 15 and May 16 last. A five years ago, our country had only 1,600 hectares planted with this product. Actual production of cranberries Chilean reaches 10,000 hectares.
