Fruitlogistic 2007 will be conducted in Berlin

During February 8th and 10th will be conducted the Fruitlogistic fair 2007 in Berlin, Germany. International fair about Fruits and Vegetables Marketing, conducted in the Event Messe Center located in the German capital, is focused in create business opportunities between producers and buyers from fruit market.

Through its exhibition stands, this fair offers new products for an international public looking for contacts establishment with different markets.

Products range in exhibition goes from non-processing vegetables and fruits, dried fruit, walnuts, biological products, flowers and plants. Additionaly, a packaging sample is included, storage, transportation and process logistics.

Gabriel Ormeño: Blueberries Committee President


The leader held that united work among producers and exporters will achieve growing targets in the field. He reconized that prices issues could be managed despite dollar situation which is worst.

To Gabriel Ormeño, Blueberries Committee President, this moment is a big step, no just for achieving the union among producers and exporters, but more than that: to join effort with mutual objectives.

"The main objective to reach is a Committee setting up, has been to achieve, as a whole, consumption promotion internationally as well as a domestic consumption. The fundamental idea is that Chilean offert, do not affect prices promoting consumption, according to great condition and characteristics gathered in this fruit. Blueberry, some how, stands out among the rest of the berries and other fruits", the leader emphasized.

It is categorized as Premium in United States, it is 20% more expensive than other berries and its consumption is increasing. Agrícola Fragaria detected the opportunity and developed this crop in Chile which is reaching 120 hectares.
Discretely arrived in Chile, almost nobody noticing, but this year is reaching 120 hectares and it is expected to be the future fruit. Sweet flavour, high antioxidant contents and wide market in USA are their credentials.

With the new millennium everything started, three shareholders from Agrícola Fragaria realized that marionberry could become a true gold mine that they were ready to exploit.
“We grow different kinds of berries and we exported blackberries, but Mexico also started to export them therefore they put us out of the business. We started searching for new alternatives and we realized that Marionberry was the best option since USA was the main market for this type of berry as it was consumed over 50 years in this country and it is a very coveted product” stated Jaime Bravo, one of the three owners, along with Francisco Munita and Nestor Braithwaite.

Ignacio Muñoz and their Blueber and Cranber products


It seems like chocolate, but in fact are dried and chocolate covered blueberries and crandberries. It is a delight for consumer, and an alternative for industry for those fruits that can not be exported.
Halfway through the last year, Ignacio Muñoz's friend and manager of Café Express was walking into a Chinese supermarket when a little box caught his attention. He was not sure of what is was, it looked like chocolate but one there was a picture of a blueberry in it. He bought it and tasted it, flavor was “incredible”. The acid flavor of berry disappeared completely under the chocolate. He liked it so much that brought some boxes to Chile.
